BYRON BAY, NSW
Providing pristine beaches and a gentle surf, The Pass is a popular choice for suffers looking for an easy to surf option which also makes it ideal for beginners looking for a gentle place to learn or practice.
FINGAL HEAD, NSW
An artificial reef built by the local council, helps make the surf at Narrowneck some of the best along the open stretch of coastline.
GOLD COAST, QLD
Despite the name Surfers Paradise, the best surfing beaches on the Gold Coast are at the southern end close to Coolangatta. Snapper Rocks, Rainbow Bay, Greenmount, Burleigh Heads, and Kirra all provide excellent surf and are well known with surfing enthusiasts offering plenty of point breaks. Snapper Rocks is also home to the annual professional surfing competition the Quicksilver Pro World Surfing League.
For beginners, head to Currumbin Creek at the southern end of the Gold Coast or Surfers Paradise with in the heart of the Gold Coast.
SUNSHINE COAST, QLD
The main beach at Noosa is unique because it is a north facing beach which helps protect it from wind and therefore making it a gentle beach ideal for beginners, learners, and surfers looking for a cruisy surf. Other popular surf beaches in the region are Little Cove, just around the way from Noosa’s main beach, Mooloolaba, and Coolum.
For experienced surfers the Sunshine Coast offers, Noosa National Park, Double Island Point (accessible only by 4WD), and Old Woman Island (accessible only by boat) with its left and right hand waves.
